📢 Shout Outs

Major thanks to Co-Founder Billy Baraw for his hard work on customer interviews and pitching in the last few weeks.

We want to thank Rajesh and Bass from FoundersBoost Austin again for working with us to understand the opportunities and possible outcomes as we examine our go-to-market strategy. Mentors including Lamine Zarrad and Raja Mawad have also helped us examine channels to reach groups of potential customers.

Thanks to Courtney Randle, George Ellzey Jr., and Laura Petro for meeting with us this week as we conduct discovery with filmmakers who are current or recently graduated students in undergraduate and graduate film programs.

Completed first three weeks of FoundersBoost program and created 2 minute pitch with pitch deck

Held engineering operations knowledge transfer session to train full team and reassign security settings across the technology stack

🎙️ Announcements


We are bidding farewell to Idris Ocasio, our Co-Founder and Director of Mobile Development, as he pursues other professional priorities. Idris worked with us over the course of five years to build out our organizational tools and mobile apps for iOS and Android. He believes in the long-term success of Kapsul and will provide support on as needed basis. We wish him well in his future endeavors!

To redistribute responsibilities, Nick and Adam will maintain and expand existing codebases and take over all open technical projects. Billy will remain focused on customer development, but will contribute to technical projects in database management and testing.

Although we plan to bring in additional help on a contractual basis, we had already arrived at a milestone in our product roadmap where our engineering needs were changing. As of now we are satisfied with the overall performance of the application system in the real world, so an immediate engineering hire is not indicated. As we learn from our customers, we'll prioritize specific skills needed in the talent search.

As we look for ways to accelerate our growth, we are now more motivated to consider the strategic value of a fundraising round.

We need warm introductions to Chambers of Commerce, Economic and Industrial Development Commissions, and other organizations that maintain local relationships with storefront businesses.

We are seeking relationships with film programs at colleges and universities to work with student filmmakers.

We need help getting short informal meetings with storefront businesses, particularly in Chicago or Austin, to continue discovery through early sales.

Our mobile applications are stable and performing well in the real world. We are collecting feedback as we refine our development roadmap.

🎯 Strategy

Focusing on relationships with organizations that support storefronts and creatives, to identify and capture channels that expand our reach. Examples include Chambers of Commerce who could provide Kapsuls to their member businesses as support during the economic pandemic recovery and university film programs who could provide a gig offering to their current and recently graduated students.
